April 04, 2011
Los Angeles - The Los Angeles Police Department and the California Highway Patrol have launched its campaign to apprehend drivers using handheld cellphones in support of the Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
Authorities began its zero-tolerance implementation of the distracted driving laws and expressed their serious efforts to at least reduce the number of vehicle accidents due to cellphone use without any hands-free device.
Studies show that texting or talking on cellphones while driving increases the possibility of serious accidents by 400%.
