PRODUCT RECALL: FSIS Recalls Mislabeled Raviolis Containing Soy

January 28, 2011

Fullerton – At least 654 pounds of frozen veal ravioli manufactured by Nina Mia, Inc. were recalled after the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) discovered that its label did not declare that the product contained soy, which is a known allergen.

The FSIS discovered the problem during a label review. Products recalled were 6-lb. cases of Pasta Mia Veal Ravioli Gastronomica with manufacturer item number V16LR01. The items were labeled as "PASTA MIA VEAL RAVIOLI LRG RND GASTRONOMICA."

Each case contains two 3-lb. packages with the establishment number 20314" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products were manufactured between February 11 and September 24 last year, and were distributed to food service establishments in California.

So far, the FSIS and the company have not received any reports of harmful reaction due to consumption of the product.
