Girl Dies on the Way to Prom

A 16-year-old high school student was killed on the way to prom as the car she was riding overturned on the 110 Freeway on Saturday night, authorities said.
Jennifer Perla, along with other seven high school students, was on the way to California Science Center to attend their school’s prom night when the accident happened around 8 pm, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said.
CHP officials said driver Kenneth Mullen, 18, was driving the SUV when she lost control of the vehicle which overturned on its side.
According to police report, all the passengers survived in the accident except Perla who was not wearing her seatbelt and was thrown out of the vehicle.
Meanwhile, teachers from Taft High School in Woodland Hills said the news about the accident quickly spread which saddened all the students especially the victims’ friends during the prom night.
Perla’s older sister, Janet was also in the car accident but survived with minor injuries.
