October 10, 2009
Redding - A motorcycle driver died after hitting the back of a van on Highway 299 west of Bella Vista yesterday, October 7.
Nicholas Williams, 21, was driving at 50 mph when a van suddenly stopped in front of him in the westbound lane. The van was being driven by 46- year old Laura Ruby, who about to take a left turn into a driveway when it collided with the motorcycle.
Although Williams was wearing a helmet, he still sustained major injuries on his face. His pelvis was punctured by his motorcycle’s handlebar. The paramedics tried to revive the victim but he died because of his injuries.
The California Highway Patrol authorities said Williams denied being under the influence of alcohol when he was driving.
