Sonoma - A male driver was killed while another one was injured after being involved in a rear-end collision, said California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers.
According to reports, a 35 year-old driver, from Angwin, was traveling east on Petrified Forest Road in a 1995 Ford Mustang when he tried to overtake a 1990 Geo Storm, but ended up rear-ending it.
Both the Geo driver identified as John Dawes, 39, from Santa Rosa, and the Mustang driver lost control of their vehicles due to the impact and headed towards oak trees outside of the roadway.
Authorities said Mustang driver died after he was partially ejected from his vehicle. Meanwhile, Dawes was rushed to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital to be treated for major injuries.
