October 8, 2010
Williams – A 61-year-old woman was killed Thursday morning when her car rolled over on Interstate 5 and ended up partially submerged in an irrigation canal, the California Highway Patrol said.
According to reports, the woman was driving her 2007 Chrysler Sebring sedan heading south on I-15 north of Highway 20 when it veered off the road, rolled over and fell into about four feet of water. Firefighters have to flip the vehicle in its wheels before they were able to recover the victim.
The woman, whose name was not yet released, was pronounced dead at around 9:25 am. It was unclear at first if she died due to drowning or as a result of the rollover. She was not wearing her seatbelt.
Authorities say that no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
