Pickup Truck Struck By Metrolink Train after Car Collision

Sun Valley – A pickup truck was struck by a Metrolink commuter train after being thrown onto the tracks by following a collision with another car this yesterday morning.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the collision occurred at the 9800 block of North San Fernando Road when the driver of a white Camry that pulled over for an ambulance as she was supposed to do was hit by a Dodge pickup truck.

The Camry was thrown ff the embankment while the truck went tover the embankment and onto the train tracks.

A Metrolink commuter train then slammed into the truck and threw it back into the embankment where the truck rolled over.

According to a Metro link spokesperson, there were a total of 8 people injured from the accident.

The driver of the Dodge pickup and an infant aboard the Camry are both in critical condition while 6 passengers sustained minor injuries.

The infant was transported to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center before being airlifted to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

The Valley Traffic Division of the LA Police Department was investigating the car accident that preceded the train collision.

Investigations by Metrolink are also under way. The Federal Railroad Administration and California Utilities Commission were also notified and may conduct their own inquiries about the incident.
