Point Break Actress Lori Petty Pleaded DUI Charge
September 4, 2009
Point Break actress Lori Petty pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor DUI charge with injury when she allegedly hit a skateboarder, who suffered minor injuries, with her car in Venice last May. Petty will receive five-years of informal probation.
The 45-year-old actress was charged with three misdemeanors because of her DUI arrest. Her other two charges were dismissed—no proof of financial responsibility and DUI with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher.
"It's basically a court probation which means you're pledged to stay out of trouble and it significantly increases the penalties should you get into trouble again while on probation," said Petty's attorney, Blair Berk.
Petty received 60 months probation and is fined up to $1,500. Furthermore she will complete a 60-day outpatient alcohol treatment program and attend AA classes. Currently, she already had her 30-day treatment.
In May, she was taken into police custody and held in jail for five hours before she was release on a $100,000 bail.
