Valley Center Collision Kills Bicyclist

Valley Center – A pick-up truck struck a bicycle, which kills the bicyclist shortly after Tuesday morning near Valley center, authorities said.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Eric Newbury, the bicyclist who was identified as 37-year old Angel Guadalupe Galvez was riding south on Cole Grade Road at about 8:20 a.m.

The driver of the Chevrolet pick-up saw Galvez and looked his shoulder to pass but wound up hitting him instead.

The helmet of Galvez was knocked off upon impact and he died after being brought to the hospital.

The driver, who was described as a 50-year old Valley Center Man, could face misdemeanor manslaughter charges for the incident, according to authorities.

Neither drugs nor alcohol is suspected in the accident.
