PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT:Woman arrested as hit-and-run suspect
July 21, 2010
Los Angeles –Police have arrested a woman suspected of killing an 11-year-old boy during a hit and run accident last July 15, Thursday.
After releasing a video of the vehicle, an anonymous tip to the LAPD 77th Street Station led to the arrest of 23-year-old Sylvia Saldana. Authorities had just offered a reward in the case when the tip came in.
Saldana borrowed the Ford Expedition that struck Natanael Garcia from an in-law, according to Officer Kitti Yount. Saldana fled the scene out of fear because she had no driver’s license or insurance. She parked the SUV a few blocks away from her home and did not tell the owner what happened, Yount added.
The accident occurred Thursday afternoon when the SUV struck Garcia who was in a marked crosswalk at Hoover and 76th streets.
