Motorcycle Accident: Illegal Street Race in Racho Cordova Kills 1 Motorcyclist
Rancho Cordova – Several people including a 20-year-old motorcyclist were detained by police for questioning after another motorcyclist was killed in an alleged street race in Rancho Cordova yesterday evening.
The Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 19-year-old Kevin Hiroshi Imura of Sacramento.
According to Rancho Cordova Police Department, Imura and the 20-year-old motorcyclist was said to be racing in the area of Freestone Way and Edington Drive when their motorcycles collided that caused Imura to lose control and crash.
Responding police and paramedics came shortly before 8:00pm and found Imura lying on the ground suffering from severe injuries.
Paramedics pronounced him dead on the scene.
The police department’s Major Accident Investigation Team will try to determine the circumstances surrounding the motorcycle accident.
At present, it is not yet known if any charges will be filed against the other motorcyclist who was uninjured after the incident.
The area where the motorcycle accident happened is notorious for illegal street racing due to being undeveloped.
