Small Plane Crashes with Two On Board
January 24, 2009
Oceanside - A small plane with two people on board hit an electrical line or power pole and crashed on a street in Oceanside last week.
Federal Aviation Administration representative Ian Gregor said the single-engine Cessna 172 crashed at around 10:50 a.m.
City police Sgt. Kelan Poorman said that the plane "struck some overhead power lines or one of the power poles" approximately a quarter-mile from the Oceanside Municipal Airport.
Poorman said one person got out of the wreck and he was brought to a hospital. Rescuers also attempted to pull a second person free. The conditions of the two survivors are still unknown.
The plane crashed near a heavily populated residential area, a sewage pump station and Route 76, which is the major highway of the town but no one on the ground was injured and there was no fire, reports said.
