Woman Who Tried to Flee Crash Arrested

December 19, 2008

SAN DIEGO - The woman who led a slow chase after hitting a vehicle Thursday was arrested in University City, police said.

The 29-year-old woman drove off on her Mercedes after she hit a car in a parking lot of a shopping center along the streets of Arriba and Regent Road, authorities said.

Reports indicate that at round 4p.m, the driver of the rammed car reported the incident and minutes later, police spotted the Mercedes on Nobel Drive.

Officers tried to pull the woman over but instead, she started to slow for about 15 minutes and at one point even ran a red light and stopped at the middle of the street.

The chase ended when authorities forced her to drive through spike strips that have flattened her tires.

The woman was arrested and charged with assault and evading arrest.
