Ortega Highway Crash killed Motorcyclist
May 11, 2009
Orange County, L.A.- Police are investigating a fatal collision along Ortega (74) Highway that left a 30-year-old motorcyclist dead.
According to California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer Ron Thatcher, the accident occurred when Dario Moreno, resident of Rancho Santa Margarita, was traveling westbound near an establishment located about four miles from Ortega Highway and Grand Avenue in Lake Elsinore.
An 18-year-old driver who was identified as Skyler York was traveling eastbound on the highway in his 1995 Honda Civic and made a left turn in front of Moreno, said Thatcher. The motorcyclist failed to avoid the car, thus causing a collision to occur.
Moreno was thrown off from his motorcycle after hitting the passenger’s side of the vehicle.
He was announced dead an hour after he was brought to Inland Medical Center in Wildomar. Meanwhile, York was not hurt in the crash.
Thatcher said neither drugs nor alcohol are assumed to have played a part in the accident. In addition, police have not made any arrests or citations.
